What exactly is a cavity?

Most people know cavities are bad but what are they, really? A cavity is a small hole in your tooth caused by decay. Over time, bacteria eat away at the tooth’s structure, and the damage doesn’t repair itself.

If left untreated, cavities grow larger, leading to pain, more complex treatment, higher costs, and time away from work or study. The sooner a cavity is treated, the easier and more affordable it is to fix.
